Selecting the right tattoo removal device is important, and depends very much on your overall offering and positioning as a clinic. Below is a list of criteria that you should consider before making a decision. Whether you’re st or are already established, make sure you’re making the right decision for your business.

1.Types of Treatment

Tattoo removal machines have the potential to perform multiple treatments, depending on if they will be useful to your client base. The Helios III, for example, can do a number of epidermal treatments including Onychomycosis (Nail Fungus), Uneven Skin Tone, Nevus of Ota and Cafe au Lait spots. For some clinics, this is a way to add value or broaden their client base, for others – mainly those who will be strictly tattoo removal specialists – it serves no purpose at all.

2.Types of Tattoos

Different devices have the ability to eradicate different types of tattoos. Some are good at darker tattoos, and others are more specialised in lighter shades. Importantly, lighter tattoos are notoriously more difficult to remove than dark ones.

However, the devices that can treat lighter inks are also considerably more expensive. You have to consider then, what percentage of your client base you think will have lighter or unusual colours in their tattoos? The best way to work this out (or at least create a good estimate) is to walk around the neighbourhood where your clinic will be, sit in the coffee shops and talk to the locals – do they have tattoos? What colour are they?

While lighter tattoos are harder to remove and it’s good to offer a full-function service, darker and traditional colours are far more common. Think about whether you will need the extra service that comes with a considerable cost attached.

3.Price

Not necessarily only the overall cost of the machine, but how long it will take to pay for itself. Use your weekly and monthly treatment calculations as a measurement, and work your way backwards from there.

There are plenty of tattoo devices on the market, but choosing a device isn’t as simple as grabbing the most expensive and assuming it’s the best. Different devices serve different purposes and in order to make the right decision, take the time to compare.
