Do I have to close my business even though my clinic is in my home?

The Government provided that from midnight Wednesday (today), certain businesses will no longer be allowed to continue – the list of businesses included, In-store beauty therapy, tanning, waxing, nail salons and tattoo parlors, spa and massage parlors (excluding allied-health-related services, like physiotherapy)”. If your business is not one included in the Government’s list we assume you are permitted to continue to operate it but if you are unsure, you should check with the Government to make sure.

Do I have to close down my business even though my clinic is in a shopping centre which is still open?

Yes. The Government provided that from midnight Wednesday on the 25th of March 2020, certain businesses will no longer be allowed to continue – the list of businesses included, “In-store beauty therapy, tanning, waxing, nail salons and tattoo parlours, spa and massage parlours (excluding allied-health-related services, like physiotherapy)”. The Prime Minister’s announcement clearly contemplated salons in shopping centres.

Do you know how long I will need to stay closed?

We hope it won’t be long, but that all depends on how long it takes to get the virus under control.
