More than almost any other sector, the beauty and aesthetics industry understands what it means to ‘ride the COVID wave.’
Lockdowns cause mental and financial anguish.
The stress of having a clinic with no customers and delayed bookings and employees who are experiencing their own anxiety.
Then the lockdown ends, and the bookings are endless. The phone won’t stop ringing and there isn’t enough staff, but how long will it last?
Should you be investing in another device to deal with the surge?
What about new treatments?
The big question, while we’re in lockdown, is how to plan for re-opening.
Get Your Ducks in a Row
We all made this mistake at the end of the first lockdown. Suddenly, an announcement was made and we had what felt like six minutes to prepare everything, including COVID requirements, for re-opening.
Before this lockdown ends, make sure you have the clinic supplies you need (especially items that are likely to be in high demand for re-opening, such as hand sanitiser, masks, gloves and bedsheets) and that there’s enough to cover a very busy few months.
You don’t want to get caught short or risk a fine for non-compliance.
Keep Talking to Your Team
Even when there’s nothing to talk about. Stay in touch and see how they’re going, what they’re thinking and how they’re keeping themselves busy.
Many excellent people will choose to leave the industry due to the uncertainty and loss of income caused by the lockdown. Often this can be avoided by letting team members know they’re valued and have secure employment when the restrictions are lifted.
Maintenance and Testing
Don’t wait until you’re open to test your devices, only to find out they need servicing.
Schedule in a device check with your supplier as soon as possible before re-opening. Make sure you’ve tested all your devices and that they’re in perfect working order.
If you’re a Laseraid subscriber, your servicing is all covered, so get in touch with our team when the time is right.
Schedule Re-opening
Have a plan to re-open the clinic. What needs to be done a week out from launch? A full clean? What about 2 days out – machine testing? The day before?
By scheduling everything now, you’ll know what to do and when you need to do it.
Make the Most of Now
Importantly, don’t forget to make the most of this downtime. This may be the only chance you get to look after yourself before the end of the year (and hopefully the end of restrictions!) Take the time to relax and get in the right frame of mind to support your team and grow your business when this is all over.
Look after yourselves – we can’t wait to see you soon!
