With our industry essentially put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s easy – and entirely reasonable – to be upset and feel isolated and stressed. After all, this type of thing hasn’t happened for over 100 years. But it will pass, and this there are some things you can do now to make sure you are well-positioned for what has the potential to be a boom time for the beauty and aesthetic industry.
When you feel like it, here are some ideas to get you started:
Work on Your Brand
When was the last time you looked to your branding? Does the look and feel still represent your business? You don’t need to be a graphic designer or branding expert to design something new, there are loads of tools online, and sometimes less is more – what about a nice-looking font? If you’d like some expertise, reach out to a local graphic designer or jump on Upwork or Freelancer. It doesn’t need to cost the earth to be beautiful.
Create Some Content
While we are all spending more time at home, social media usage will inevitably go up. Many of our clients and potential clients are social media mad, so how about taking the chance to grow your audience? If you’re stuck for ideas:
• Create posts about your time in isolation at home
• Do a “clinic at home,” training course for people who are missing their treatments
• Post about healthy living and recommended activities for clients
• General skin care tips
• Review some products you really like
Do Some Online Training
Learn a new way to use a product, research cutting edge treatments, or get up to speed on your bookkeeping system. There are so many online courses, YouTube videos and virtual universities online now; it’s incredible anyone who wants to learn anything leave the house at all. But in all seriousness, if you can enhance your technical skillset or improve your business nous, you’ll be much better off when the doors open again.
Get Your Business Online
Do you have in-store products? Do you have an online store? Jump onto Shopify, WooCommerce or one of the numerous online shopping platforms and set up a secondary line of revenue. It’s also a great way to keep your clients engaged. Best of all, there are no special skills required, thanks to the user-friendly interface of online stores. Get Your Accounts Up-To-Date
Get everything tidied up. After all, you’re always complaining about having too much paperwork – now you can get rid of it.
Take Some Time to Yourself
This is a really tough time. Through no fault of our own, we find ourselves at home without income. For many of us, tough choices have had to be made and we are all feeling, at the very best, numb and uncertain. Maybe you should dedicate a bit of your time to relaxing, reading a good book or doing whatever makes you happy. Most importantly, remember to forgive yourself for chilling out – we all deserve a bit of mental respite at the moment.
Good luck, and stay safe.
