CO2 fractional laser treatments are becoming more popular due to their effectiveness and the multitude of treatments available on the devices.

For the sake of this article, we’re going to focus on fractional lasers, rather than outdated ablative lasers.

CO2 treatments work by removing the epidermis and penetrating the lower layers of skin with heat, stimulating collagen and promoting healing.

Here are a just a few of the more popular treatments that can be performed by CO2 fractional lasers:

Skin Resurfacing

Fine lines, wrinkles, skin tone or uneven skin issues, all of these can be treated with CO2 skin resurfacing. The treatment requires a period of healing, but the results are phenomenal. As a result, clients will book multiple treatments at once, and there is an opportunity to offer trials and one-off treatments.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal or ‘designer vagina’ treatments are especially popular following childbirth. The laser acts on the vaginal walls to stimulate collagen and encourage healing. The results can be life-changing, with improved physical appearance, the reestablishment of pH levels and assistance with incontinence sexual arousal issues.

Acne

Because CO2 lasers impact both the epidermis and sub-dermal layers of the skin, the cause and effect of acne can be treated. This is a great solution for clients who are trying to avoid uncomfortable and expensive medication-based acne treatments. There is also the added benefit of being able to target other common problems such as freckles and scarring (especially acne scarring) that can cause understandable anxiety in clients.

CO2 fractional laser treatments are building in popularity because they offer multiple, effective solutions. What’s interesting is that this also presents a conduit between medical treatments and traditional beauty treatments, with the drive for CO2 being from Medispa to the salon and then to the client, rather than the other way around – which is more common. This means that the experts are the ones telling clients that something works and that momentum, started from the medical groups and was taken on by the aesthetic community as a solution.

CO2 is likely to be the most important treatment for many clinics. Not only because it’s a sustainable, proven treatment, but also because it will introduce many clients to other, complementary treatments.
